TIME is the greatest gift

I have heard and watched about Child Haus in TV last quarter of 2010. Child Haus is a temporary shelter for indigent patients from the different provinces who have cancer or other dreaded diseases and have no place to stay in Metro Manila while undergoing medical evaluation and treatment. It provides free room and board to all its residents.

Currently, Child Haus has in its care 71 sick and less fortunate children, some of whom are cancer patients. Recently, they are being evicted in their Quezon City facility due to the sale of its property to a big corporation.

I was one of Divine Lee's volunteers last December 10, 2010 where we brought them to Newport Cinema of Resorts Word Manila and watched Narnia.
Divine Lee gave our specific roles over breakfast (copied this photo from her blog).

The smiles and giggles of the children were priceless, hopped from one lazy boy chair to another and their countless press of the buttons for unlimited popcorn and sodas even before the movie started.

The Divine Diva, Miss ZsaZsa Padilla joined us also in this activity with two more showbiz personalities (they arrived when the movie started already so I have no pictures of them).

the kids were so excited to see Ms. ZsaZsa and immediately hugged her
I am so blessed to have this opportunity of serving them because I was also touched and inspired by their stories of HOPE, FAITH and MIRACLE. I was able to talk to the father of the late three year old Jackie. At the time of this activity, Manong Benjamin proudly told me that Jackie was able to surpass chemo and had positive results. She is due for her last battle, the radiotherapy which was supposedly last January 2011 but then little Jackie did not make it anymore.

I had a heavy heart when I heard that Joseph and Jackie lost their fight against the big C one month after this activity. But I know that they are in a better place now with our Loving Creator.

I am also glad to look back and recall that we were able to make Jackie and Joseph happy and gave a wonderful experience before they went to Heaven.

God is so amazing in His ways! I was supposed to have our Christmas Party in our office last December 10, 2010. Lo and behold, just a week before December 10, I got a call from my manager that we will have our Christmas Party a day earlier. I thank God for clearing my schedule and so I was able to serve in this activity with the kids in Child Haus.

Let me end this by sharing with you one of my favorite quotes from Rick Warren: "Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your TIME."

As we enter Holy Week, let us give TIME to our dear Lord by Prayers and Reflection, Fasting, Abstinence and Almsgiving (or Charity).

And before we will go off the internet this Holy Week, let this be your Almsgiving: by visiting and vote our Easter Egg for Child Haus.

Megaworld Lifestyle Center celebrate the spirit of giving with the Easter EGGxhibit. They will donate Php100,000 to the corresponding charity for the winning Egg. This amount will go a long way for the treatments of children in Child Haus.

This is Divine Lee's egg for Child Haus:

These are the two pages in Facebook where we must click our votes. Here are the four steps and just click Eastwood City, Child Haus egg and Newport City, (all the colored words below) they will lead you to the sites:

woven hair this summer...anyone?

Models had basket-woven hairpieces in Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 runway:

They remind me of our specialty here in Cebu - "Puso" (read it fast) or hanging rice in english.
"Puso" is a boiled rice wrapped in woven strands of palm leaves that are best paired with our Cebu's Lechon (roasted pig) or barbeque (grilled pork)
So let's go weave our hairs this summer and look delicious? hahaha

Style is not expensive - Nina Garcia

Style is not all about Designer Labels. You can always do with what you have in your closet and reinvent them if needed. I did this with what I wore yesterday to one of my bff's wedding ;-)

I love color blocking this summer and so I checked my closet and see what I can make with what I have. Since sheer maxi skirt is in nowadays, ok, i chose this neon tangerine, sheer/chiffon skirt in my closet:
The maxi skirt is really full at two meters so I need to wear a top that will make me look thin and so I thought of this corset:

The neon maxi skirt is so bright so I just find this corset top to have many colors or details (for me, white and fuschia is too much for the neon skirt hehe)

I decided then to buy a half meter violet cloth (at only P40 hehe) to cover this bustier so I could still have the fitted form of this bustier and achieve the plain color. So here are the pics of what I did:

1. Get my Styling Kit - thread, needle and scissors

2. follow the form/shape of vintage corset with the violet cloth

3. sew the sides to cover (sorry for the flash hehe)

4. the finish product (ngweek, not perfect but its ok for me haha)
I just added two accessories to my color blocking - orange belt and a bib necklace (c/o Liza Kintanar) then presto!

Again, the fit is not perfect but I had fun in making this project hahaha  I look forward to my next DIYs (Do It Yourself)  ;D

Congratulations to my friend, Hazel Grace and Nolan Supat. Enjoy your honeymoon!

Travel in STYLE

I love this picture where Isabella Fontana (one of Victoria Secret's very pretty model) sat on top of suitcases. The first idea that popped into my thoughts was - this is Traveling in Style!

Then I googled (thank you to the ever super reliable Google!) for more pictures of her, and found out that this is the latest Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook of Mango entitled Boardingpass.

I was taught to wear business attire always when traveling even though it's only a domestic flight. So a blazer is always a must for us.

Just like these pictures:

I have done a lot of travels for work and most especially for my recent Fashion Styling class and I can attest that we can create different business looks without blazer.

If one is playful yet wants comfort and style:

And when one is off to have a weekend rest and relaxation:

I am sharing these pictures with you so you can have pegs in how to be a chic traveler. You will see how dressing in style will also be of advantage - like airport staff will greet you and even help you carry your luggage. I have even a blooper experience with two of my girl-friends where the check in counter was already closed but then the staff allowed us to board the plane, maybe because they thought we were their flight attendants off duty? hahaha

Fastfood chain suspends ads on ‘Willing Willie’

I wonder if Willy still feels so proud and mighty on this.... :

Fastfood chain suspends ads on 'Willing Willie'

MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) Jollibee Foods Corporation is suspending ad placement on TV5 game show “Willing Willie” amid a child abuse controversy, its media office said.
“Mang Inasal will be holding off ad placements from ‘Willing Willie’ this week,” the JFC Corporate Media announced Saturday on its Facebook page.
The announcement came as the drive to boycott products of the top-rating show’s advertisers gains support on various social media sites.
In a letter sent to Froilan Grate of Facebook group Para Kay Jan-jan (Shame on you Willie Revillame), JFC media representative Pauline Lao said the giant food conglomerate was “aware of the issues and the various sentiments raised” following the show’s March 12 episode, which featured a macho dancing six-year-old boy.
Lao said the corporation, which packages itself as family friendly, was keeping tabs on TV5’s investigation, stressing that it “remains committed to upholding the welfare of children.”
“We trust that the appropriate and expert institutions will also respond and look into this matter with urgency,” the JFC official said.
The boy, a contestant in the game show, was seen in tears as he was repeatedly egged on to simulate a striptease to the delight of program host Willie Revillame and the studio audience. It caused uproar on the Internet.
The government condemned the episode, with the Commission on Human Rights saying it was studying the possibility of filing legal charges against those responsible for the “child abuse.”
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board has said it received numerous complaints after seeing the show and would review the episode for appropriate action.
Social Welfare Secretary castigated the fast-rising broadcast station and Revillame for making the young contestant from a poor family to “gyrate distastefully” in exchange for P10,000 in prize money.
On Thursday, activist lawyer Ipat Luna reminded advertisers that they play a crucial role in “shaping the national soul” and urged them to “pull out of Willie’s show as a first step.”
“If poverty is the excuse for losing one’s dignity, I think companies like yours are in the best position to show that dignity can be had despite poverty and Willie’s show flies in the face of that possibility,” she said in her letter to the companies.
Oishi responded to Luna’s letter, describing the incident as “regretful,” and added that “we hope [this] will not happen again.”
“While we, as advertisers, do not control the actual execution and their artists during the show, we also want to do our part to avoid these unfortunate incidents,” Oishi said. The snack firm also said it was reviewing possible actions which “can yield actual, positive results.”
On Wednesday, TV5 television network said it was conducting a “thorough investigation” of the incident.

COLOR BLOCKING

I love bright colors! This Summer, bright colors are so in. COLOR BLOCKING is the game! Gone are those monotone colors and matching days, just like these girls' color blocking outfits:

Have fun in your own color blocking! ;-)

EYEBROWS frame your face

Groomed eyebrows do speak a lot! They give you a natural and fresh look. When you are in a rush and have no time to put make up, just be sure to have great eyebrows for they frame your face. Just like BIANCA BALTI in Vanity Fair Italy March 2011 issue.
